Light through the darkness

Screen Shot 2021-01-10 at 7.28.45 PM.png

For my animal painting I decided to go with a wolf. This idea originally came from my family and our families spirit animal. The wolf represents hope in my family, it reminds us that we will always have a place in our pack. The two experiences that I practically used for inspiration to create this painting was, my best friend Madlyn’s death, and my kids (who I “adopted”). When Maddy died it was around the time I had first started to lose sight of who I was and why I was fighting to find myself. My kiddos mia, junior, Amanda, Haley, and Breana helped me find the reason I was fighting to find myself again, because they are the reasons, I fight for who I am. The process I  went through for this particular painting was, I started by painting a sunset for the background it was supposed to represent on a new beginning but after I was done painting the sunset, I realized that’s not what I wanted this painting to symbolize. So instead I painted the back ground black, and the tribal wolf following the colors white then blue on top. This painting means hope. The symbolic image in the artwork is the quote “YOUR TIME IS NOW,START WHERE YOU STAND AND NEVER BACK DOWN”;this quote is something that I live by. This artwork shows that even in the darkness there will always be the light to help you through it. This is a surreal painting.

Solider on the outside, broken girl on the inside

12x24 acrylic paint , 2020

The idea that all of us have heard either from a teacher, parents, consulur, sibling, or friend is “you are stronger than you think you are”.  I got the idea for this piece of are by talking about a incident that had happen when I was 13-years-old, everyone around me were fighting, and at school I was getting called really rude and cureual name. the first thing I had started to paint was actually a photo of my brother but then I realized that through my life vie been focusing on him so much that I didn’t want to be in his shadow anymore, so then I decide I was still going to stick with the theme of getting through your own darkness, the girl in the photo is seen wearing a light gray and dark grey beanie which represents being torn between “worlds” one being trying to be the perfect daughter to her father and mother, and purple representing hiding in the dark about something that happened. Matched with a grey shirt that symbolizes feeling lost and trapped. Her running mascara and tears running down her eyes trying to make people see she is crying out for help in silence. Her black and blue hair resenting giving up. But there is something that keeps her going her bracelet if you look closely can you see it, a name carved into her bracelet MADDY her savior and anchor the memory of Maddy keeps her going. This artwork means hope, hope that you will overcome any obstacle that life throws at you. You will always find the light to guide you through the darkness. The symbolism in this painting comes in more than one place, her clothing, hair tears, and at the top…do you see it? “keep going”, “I’m with you”, a voice from above telling her she is never alone.

A world full of love and hope

Snapchat-1583862162%20(1)_edited.jpg

For my landscape painting I decided to do a sunset over a medow behind a couple. The idea for the painting came from my sister and her husband, our family tends to have a hard time finding people we can trust with anything, when my sister met her husband we all knew we could trust him. The process that came from this painting at first I had thought about doing a snowing mountain, but then I relized that I wanted to do something that will really make people look at it. For the flowers I did a lot of mixing the main colors together and using a patting technique to make it more detailed. This artwork means love, I want the audience to think about someone that they love but maybe they are too scared to express how they feel fully, the symbolic imagery in this painiting is the couple under a heart shaped tree. The most difficult part that I had to do in this painting was the medow cause I was worried that if there were too much flowers it would take away from the couple and the tree. I over came this struggle by asking for my friends oppinon as I was finishing the painting. If I were to start over I would change the background to a mid day sky with heart shaped clouds. This painting is surreal, this make it unique to my personal style because I made sure that the detail was just right to fit the painting and the message.

what lies behind her smile

Eternitie Jimeñez "what lies behind her smile"

12x24, canvas board/ acyrlic, 2021

The idea behind this particular painting is the two sides of a person, the side that you see vs the side you don’t see..  I got the idea for this painting from my own life everyone sees me as this bright young girl who is always seen with a smile on my face but what people don’t see is the anxiety and depression that I do suffer from on a daily basis.I originally started with the idea that the two girls would be back to back one surrounded by her friends with a bright sun behind her and the other alone in a darkend room. But as I started painting I wanted it to look different so I used pink to symbolize a persons happy side she is seen wearing bright clothes and a smile on her face surrounded by a pink and white background, while the other side is surrounded by blue wich symbolizes her being depressed and suffering from anixtey, her face is hidden beneath her hair she has gashes on her arm wich symbolizes her physical and mental pain. The most difficult part of this painting would be the fact that with this painting I am opening up about my anxiety and depression through art, and sometimes that is the hardest part of an artist paintings. I overcame this struggle because I thought about how many other people might be feeling depressed and alone, so with me opening up and painting about it, it might encourage others to not be afraid of asking for help when they feel the world crashing on them. This style of art is realistic because it is showing a very real topic and struggle that most teenagers are going through.

friendships are hard work

Eternitie Jimenez "friendships are hard work"

12x24, canvas board/ acrylic, 2021

The idea surrounding this art piece is that every friendship will have ups and downs, and every friendship is hard work your going to fight and bicker and sometimes you will feel like it’s not worth it anymore and you’re going to want to give up and let them go but in the end you need to fight for those you care for. The process I used for this painting was I started with a swiping motion for each color of purple red pink and blue to mis in order to give this kind of moral blending motion, but as you go towards the bottom I used a patting techquine to symbolize the rockiness that friendships have. The animals that are above them are their spritely animals, the dragon represents the boy’s loyalty and strength, his fearlessness when it comes to his friends. The wolf symbolizes her strength and her mind set that she must protect everyone she cares for by putting them before her at all cost. This painting goes with a story, the girl is having a rough time adapting to the world surrounding her and as she feels like she is loosing her battle to depression after the loss of a family member she meets this boy who she befriends but soon tries to push away in order to protect him from the pain and heartbreak that follows her around, but he doesn’t let her even though he is going through his own problems he is set on staying by her side and helping her through this fight so she is not alone. As there friendship grows their feelings twards eachother sparks a romance but she is terrified of loosing him so she pretends like she hasn’t fallen for him, while he goes about his day and continues to be friends with her their lives begin pulling them in different directions, they don’t know how to tell eachother how they feel, she is shut off and guarded and he doesn’t know how to get her to let her guard down, she wants to open up to him but is afraid of him leaving when he learns about her pain and the way she is suffering. In the end they continue to stay by one others side but in a year they will have to say goodbye hopefully not for the last time as they start there lives beyond highschool. Friendships are hard work, and you have to be open with eachother to make it work. The boy and girl in this story fight for eachother on a daily basis.

Eternitie Jimeñez "hear our screams and help us through the bad dreams"

12x24, canvas and ripped paper, 2021

The idea that came from this painting was all of the social issues put into a singular painting. I couldn’t idenifty just one of them so I chose to put all of them into a painting. The social issues I chose was rape, racism, rich vs poor,  people being labled as broken due to their trauma, break ups, and strength. I used a mixture of painting and ripped pieces of paper glue and fake flowers and leaves. The ripped pieces of paper reveals that evry problem doesn’t have a perfect soulution. This artwork is not to discourage people but it is to shed light on problems that we are all faced with no matter what age you are and where in the world you come from. Thses problems are what make the world a dark and horrifying place. It is one of the many challenges that we face on a day to day basis and that we all struggle to comprehend in order to fully know what to do in these situation. Females are taught to hide there bodies in order to not distract the males at school and or work place, instead of teaching the males not to sexualize what we wear and to remember to keep it in their pants. We are judged by the color of our skin and where we come from. But let meremind you that at the end of the day the same blood runs through our veins and we all bleed red, for we are humans and should repsect eachother and care but most don’t. instead we get labled on income and looks. Girls get labled on the size of their body and how clear there skin is, while boys get labled by the size of their privates and how well they treat you. When a female looses their virginity we get shamed but when a guy does it they get aplaused. This needs to changed before this get worse.

griev is a very hard thing for people to go through, when you loose someone it is very hard to move forward because in some cases you feel like you are abandoning them. but when you finally move on and find peace within yourself is when the person you lost will find peace on the other side. her name is maddy kadets she died on apirl. 28th 2019 in a car rollover on the east bound i-25 ramp heading into denver colorado. 2 years ago i lost my bestfriend, my anchor, the light in the darkness. but today i finally found peace and im ready to move forward. but i will not forget her because she is still in my heart and i will always make art that refernces her light. always and forever, this is maddys world.

Rest In Peace Juilan

When someone close to you dies you feel so much pain, grief, even guilt. because there gone. and you know that there is nothing you can do about the pain that is tugging constantly at your heart. you feel like you could have done more even though you cant. juilan was 18 when he was shot on his way home from the store. he was eating a hursheys candy bar. he was a kid that was loved. no one would ever want to hurt him. but people in this world are curel and some of them have no remourse for taking a life.
